Considering the Provisional

We are pleased to announce our inaugural exhibition at FJORD titled, “Considering The Provisional,” curated by Sean Robert FitzGerald and Liam Holding. The premise of this show is to query the idea of the provisional as proposed by Raphael Rubinstein in his recent essay, "Provisional Painting.” This show brings together works by eight Philadelphia and New York-based artists, including: Amy Feldman, Hannah Hall, Ryan McCartney, Sarah Pater, Brendan Smith, Annabelle Speer, Hannah Tarr and Jenna Weiss to instigate a dialog around the potential uses and meanings of the provisional in contemporary picture making. The framework for the show is intended to promote an open-ended inquiry that can be aimed towards fostering a dialog rather than a prescriptive colloquy.
