FJORD is pleased to present Basic Instinct featuring work by Peter Shear and Ellen Siebers. At 8:30pm during the opening reception Ian White-Williams will moderate a discussion about the exhibition, we hope you will join us!

Shear and Siebers make paintings on an intimate, contemplative scale. The spaces within them are settings for serious play, stages built for conjuring and then recognizing the succession of indelible images in the pulp and mess of paintings finding their way. Preserving something vital in paint is a matter of physicality, memory, and temporal experience processes embedded in all aspects of life. Paintings are highly sensitive recording devices and there is a plain humanity in the accumulated, searching gestures.
