"In visual perception a color is almost never seen as it really is - as it physically is. This fact makes color the most relative medium in art." -Josef Albers

In philosophy “qualia” is a term used to describe the phenomena of subjective experience. A quintessential example is what it is like to see red-- and because the sensation of redness is neither a functional nor a physical fact, it assumes the essence of qualia to be intrinsic and unanalyzable. The sculptures and paintings chosen for this exhibition create an imposing and saturated color environment in which we can ask: What are our roles as makers and viewers? Can we take our phenomenal experience literally? Is art media bistable, existing as universals and particulars?
